FOR technology writer Afiq Hanif, conveying what he knows about information and communications technology is one way to help people understand the many subjects of ICT, be it products, technology or trends. And he is doing this through his blog at www.afiqhanif.blogspot.com.
Afiq considers his blog as a diary even though it focuses on ICT happenings around the world. |
“I started blogging a few years ago, largely to pass time and share my experience, but from time to time I would think my articles could be used by people who want to know what’s going on around them, especially regarding ICT,” said the 25-year-old.
An example is his latest posting on how people could better save electricity consumption by using light-emitting diode lighting. The new technology is said to help users save up to 40 per cent in electricity consumption.
Among other things that Afiq writes about are on how to save petrol and what’s hot in the mobile and telecom realm.
“I consider my blog as a diary even though it focuses on ICT happenings around the world. Some people keep their diary online and don’t mind others reading it,” he said, adding that blogging is a platform that ultimately allows him to engage with society.
To make his blog easy reading for majority of Malaysians, Afiq posts his writings in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, and response has been encouraging, especially from friends.
As a strategy to attract more visitors, Afiq offers free thumb drives to those who write comments about his postings.
